My First Knit

Firstly I would like to apologise to those who follow both Pattern Patch and Rachel's Fashion Patch and now have this post twice in your feed (if not why aren't you following on Bloglovin?) But as this is a post that relates both to fashion and textiles I really wanted to share these photos on both of my blogs.

I think I may have found my new obsession... Knitting! I spent a fortnight last semester learning all about machine knitting and ever since then I have been experimenting with new techniques and pattern ideas. I am particularly drawn towards playful bold patterns in knitwear such as; spots, diamonds, scallops and stripes which I have been trying to introduce into my own designs such as this infinity scarf.  I wanted to share this scarf because it was the first ever item I've ever knitted and it gave me a huge personal satisfaction to say I have knitted an entire scarf!

Knitting this scarf has really inspired me to try making new things, maybe a wooly hat or a halter top? I love the satisfaction from knitting your own clothes and how much more a clothing item personally means when you have made it from scratch. Recently I managed to get my hands on a copy of Emma Robertson's (Emma Dime) book "Knitting By Design," which is aimed at all of you hand-knitters, but even as a machine-knitter I have found the read a real eye-opener into the vast range of things that can be made just using yarn.

If you would like to keep up to date with my latest knits and samples, feel free to follow me on Instagram where I post a lot of my development work on a daily basis and my outcomes before they reach my blog.

Please share any stories about items you have knitted and let me know if you share my new found addition with me.
