Garden White Out

White has got to be my summer staple. I think I create at least one post every summer featuring a white skirt or white dress: I just love white! It's so versatile and I love to dress up or dress down my white pieces. Any skin tone can pull it off, and any colour pairs well with it - even white pairs well with white!

This summer I have been loving a more laid-back take on the shade, apposed to the sharp all-white look I have usually worn in the past. Fabric is often a main factor in creating a more neutral toned look, and here I mixed a ribbed top with a scuba fabric skirt. I wore this outfit to a summer picnic recently and it felt like the perfect outfit to compliment the British summer's afternoon.

In My Makeup Bag

I am constantly rotating different products in and out of my beauty bag, but during the summer it's all about stripping down my daily products down to the bare minimum - no one likes a face capped in makeup on a boiling hot day!

First things first, I must mention this gorgeous bag from Marimekko. I have been a huge fan of their prints for years and I love the colour combination of this Unikko print! It's the perfect size to keep bits and bobs like makeup, or pens stored neatly inside your handbag, and I love including great design into my daily life.

For me, a sweep of bronzer on the cheeks and a natural pink or nude lip colour makes up the perfect summer look. I also like to add a touch of concealer to any blemishes and a coat of mascara possibly with some subtle brown eyeliner, but the key is to keeping the look very natural. I am also a huge white polish fanatic and Essie Fiji has been a favourite for many years - I think I have used up over seven bottles! Skincare is also important to remember all year round, but in summer I particularly need a really intense moisturiser to combat any dry skin patches, and Origins is the savour of my skin dilemmas.  As for fragrance, Miss Dior is another favourite, particularly for evening wear. Scent has a such a strong relationship to memory for me, and this one brings me back to my summer spent in Paris last year, but who wouldn't want to be transported to the land of Monet and macaroons?

A New Chapter

Welcome to the new Rachel's Fashion Patch!

There are about a hundred different openings I want to start this post with... After being absent from consistent blogging for over eight months now, it's a little intimidating to know where to start.

In the past year I have overcome quite a lot of changes and challenges in my life and although they all ultimately resulted in being for the better, it has not been an easy journey. The important thing to remember is with every fall there is the opportunity to pick yourself up and have a fresh start; and that's what this is the start of; my new chapter.

So what do you think of the new website design?! I love it, and thank you to Suzana for the design! As well as the new layout, I have some other exciting new additions to the blog such as the start of my Youtube channel! I can't wait to start creating video content such as lookbooks, Q&As and any other suggestions you may have - so please leave any ideas in the comments! I also plan to start introducing some more design based posts to the blog. Although I have my textiles blog Pattern Patch, that covers a lot of the raw stages in my design process, it is such a huge part of my life I feel should be shared here too!

Lastly I would just like to thank over 1000 of your for liking my Facebook page, and please follow my new Instagram and Twitter accounts (all part of the new start!)
